Chinese Plant Based Sesame Toast

Crispy sesame toast filled with lots of hidden veggies, great with a side of peanut satay noodles. Perfect as a snack or as a meal. These are a fantastic option for a side dish for a plant-based family meal. Suitable from 12 months plus.

  • Potato
  • Carrots

  • Frozen Peas

  • Chinese Spice
  • Reduced salt soya sauce 
  • Sesame seed oil
  • Bread
  • Sesame seeds
  • Milled Mixed seed mix
  • Olive oil
  • Garlic granules.
 Ingredients
  • 1 medium sized potato
  • 1 large carrot

  • Handful of Frozen Peas

  • 1 tsp Chinese Spice
  • 1 tsp garlic granules
  • 1tsp Reduced salt soya sauce 
  • 1tsp Sesame seed oil
  • 2 slices of Bread
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds
  • 1tbsp Milled Mixed seed mix
  • Olive oil for frying 
    Method
    • Peal and wash the potato and carrot. 

    • Steam the potato, carrots and peas until soft enough to mash
    • Mash the Veggies and add in the soya sauce, sesame seed oil, garlic granules and Chinese spice. Mix well 
    • Cut the slices of bread into triangles and spray olive oil on one side. On the other side spread the mixture.
    • In a separate plate, add your seeds (sesame and milled mix seed mix)
    • Place the loaded triangle on the plate of seeds ensuring both sides are covered well.
    • Heat a nonstick pan, add approximately 1 tsp of olive oil and let it heat up.
    • Place the triangle on the pan and cook until golden brown and both sides. 
    • Let the toast cool down before serving,
